The filter cartridge used in Supakwik products are of the baynette style and clips into the head by rotating a quarter of a turn clockwise.
We supply the choice of two classifications of cartridge, 1/2 and 5 micron.
The ½ or sub-micron cartridge is finer than the 5 micron cartridge. This cartridge complies with NSF Standard 53 - Health Effects performance rating. Generally, because of the Health Effects capabilities of this cartridge, we recommend the ½ micron cartridge in cold water applications such as chilled or ambient filtered water installations.
The 5 micron cartridge has a NSF Standard 42 performance rating and as such is highly effective in the reduction of Taste & Odour aswell as Chlorine. Generally, we recommend this cartridge for use with our boiling water units. By boiling water. significant disinfection is already achieved, therefore we rely on the filtration system to improve the mechanical properties of the water. The service life of this cartridge is approximately twice that of the ½ micron.
